brian1.jpg (12896 bytes) Here is a shot of Brian Chan on Tunkwa Lake in his Stillwater Classic Fly Fishing Edition. This one of Brian's favorite lakes as well as ours. If you are limited on time or just don't want to pack all the  camping equipment this would be a good choice. The lake is about 35' deep at it's deepest point, great shoal areas and it has some BIG fish, some up to 10 lbs. or more. The Tunkwa Lake Resort has 15 cabins, most with wood burning stoves for heat and propane cooking stoves. You may want to bring your lantern as the resort uses a generator for power. There are also 25 primitive (no hookups) campsites. Yes, there are flush toilets and two showers with propane fired hot water. There is a Provincial campground on the lake as well. These are similar to what we in the States call Forest Service Campgrounds. A tent or trailer site, a picnic table, a fire pit and outhouses.

There is also another smaller lake, Leighton Lake connected to Tunkwa. Leighton is about 1/3 the size with it's depth about the same. There is no resort on the lake but there is a Provincial campground. What we have found is that sometimes when one lake may be off the other lake will be fishing well. Each lake has it's own bottom structure but both have great shoal areas where the fish tend to move in and out of. B.C. fly fishing at it's best.

chanfish.jpg (10431 bytes) Here is Brian Chan with one of those famous Kamloops Rainbow Trout (about 10 pounds).  These fish fight harder and run farther than pretty much any Rainbow trout. The motto for this are called the "High Country" is "a lake a day for as long as you stay". The neat part, that they don't tell you is many of them have these monsters in them. All I can tell you about British Columbia is take the time to go. More information can be obtained from www.tunkwalakeresort.com or through www.bcadventure.com

brian2.jpg (11275 bytes)Check out the weather in this shot. Being in the Eastern part of the Province makes a huge difference. Clear skies and 35 degrees, in November no less. This is the same day as the photo above with Brian playing "another" Kamloops rainbow. Brian is an expert in the full meaning of the word. Fishing with him is an education....all day long!
