Stillwater Classic - Fly Fishing Edition Electric Motor Cable Kit
Here is the overview of
our new Electric Motor Cable Kit for our Stillwater Classic. You may ask "what makes
it different than the other ones?" In the Hopper series we have a 12" tall
seatbox to work with. Here, in the Stillwater Classic the seat box is only 7" tall.
Therefore, the a standard Group 24 battery will not fit in the seat box. So, we utilize
the small keel area in the Stillwater to run the conduit. Running completely under the
seatbox you can just see it protruding out in the front by the battery stops. You still
have storage under the seat and the battery cables as well as the battery are out of the
way of you and your fly line. Darn cool we think!
Here is a close-up of the battery stops and the conduit coming from under the seatbox. Keep in mind that your battery cables (even our MotorGuide electric's are too short) probably came too short from the factory. We can build an extension cord to make this whole system work. We use a 50 amp plug along with 6 gauge copper wire to make them increasing the life of your motor.
Here's the last close-up of the system showing the conduit at the transom end. Our kit also comes with UMHW nylon motor pads to protect the transom area from wear and tear resulting from the vibration of electric motors.
8' & 10' Hopper II Electric Motor Cable Kit
One of our most popular options (besides our exclusive
"web" exterior finish is our Electric Motor Cable Kit (EMCK).
Available only in our Hopper II
fiberglass series the EMCK replaces the single pedestal seat in
the 8' Hopper II or the rear pedestal
seat in the 10' Hopper II with one
which has a locking, removable lid. We fiberglass a custom manufactured conduit
which goes between the seatbox and the transom. A group 24 deep cycle battery fits in the
seatbox (may require some minor modification) and the electric motor cables run through
the conduit to the battery and out of the way of your fly line. No fly line hang ups and
no messy, toxic battery acid on your equipment.
Here is a photo of the locking, hinged lid seatbox which replaces the
standard pedestal. Note the conduit on the floor which houses the electric motor cables.
